Le nouveau canal de Suez a été financé à hauteur de 3 milliards d'euros, grâce à la souscription nationale réservée aux Egyptiens de l'intérieur et de l'étranger. Il permettra la navigation simultanée des bateaux de grands tonnages dans les deux sens du canal, mettant ainsi fin à celle à sens unique, qui a duré environ 146 ans, rappelle t on. Signature de trois accords de coopération entre la RDC et l'Egypte Trois accords de coopération ont été signés jeudi, en marge de la cérémonie d'inauguration du nouveau canal de Suez, entre la République démocratique du Congo et la République arabe unie d'Egypte, dans les domaines de l'énergie, de l'environnement et de la Santé. Il est prévu, dans le domaine de l'énergie, la construction à Kimpoko et Mikondo de deux centrales d'énergie photovoltaïque de deux mégawatts chacune. Et, dans le domaine de l'environnement, la RDC va bénéficier de la part du gouvernement égyptien, d'un financement de 10 millions de dollars américains pour plusieurs forages d'eau à travers les 26 provinces de la RDC et la construction d'une centrale pluviométrique à Limete. Dans le domaine de la santé, il est prévu l'implantation, à Kinshasa, d'un grand centre médical égyptien, dans un bâtiment déjà acquis, qui sera réhabilité et équipé. Cet accord vient ainsi concrétiser le bon rapport qui existe déjà entre Kinshasa et le Caire dans le domaine médical.
