UDPS: 25 members challenge Etienne Tshisekedi

''25 Frames UDPS are lashing their historic leader and challenge the party's management and the choice to participate in the dialogue of President Joseph Kabila.A first within the opposition party.
The UDPS has already gone through many crises, but it is something very special: it is the first time that the leadership of Etienne Tshisekedi is directly challenged.A taboo even just fell with the declaration of 25 leading members of the party, settled mainly in Europe or Canada they ask .: "replacement" Etienne Tshisekedi!Never seen in the Congolese opposition party. In a statement sent to the press, which Afrikarabia, slingers denounce "the current crisis," the party "whose name is Etienne Tshisekedi and first name, the wait executives who are afraid and refuse to look reality in the face."Nothing goes in the party by the signatories "the unavailability of the party chairman, sugarcoat the statutes by Etienne Tshisekedi, the interference of the biological family of the president in party affairs and the lack of transparency and poor management of finances ".
"Interference of biological family"
The causes of the deep crisis of the UDPS are to be sought in repeated absences Etienne Tshisekedi for medical reasons. At 82, the aging historic leader of the Congolese Opposition is indeed recovering from a year in Brussels and his recent public appearances have reassured people about his failing health. The opponent is only a shadow of himself and many believe that the party has slipped into the hands of his son, Felix Tshisekedi, head of external relations of the UDPS.In November 2014, more than 40 party federations denounced "the interference of the biological family of the president in the affairs of the UDPS."
No dialogue
Taking the advantage by Félix Tshisekedi goes wrong for many executives of the UDPS and the strategy of the party to participate in the dialogue convened by President Joseph Kabila remains incomprehensible to most activists. The rest of the Opposition parties, MLC, UNC and dissidents UDPS all refused dialogue, accusing Kabila of wanting to extend its mandate outside any constitutional framework. The 25 slingers are of the same opinion: "This is a pass in gold sent to Joseph Kabila, because it is nothing less than opening to the admissibility of his candidacy for a third term!Indeed this dialogue inevitably lead to the formation of a government (or Transitional National Union), corresponding to the establishment of a new legal order under the new constitutional dispensation."
Stubbornness
So divorce seems consumed between one part of the UDPS and Tshisekedi father and son.The detention of the party after the fraudulent re-election of Joseph Kabila had discouraged many of its cadres.Etienne Tshisekedi, convinced that he had won the election and be elected DRC president had forbidden its members to sit in the National Assembly. The stubbornness of Etienne Tshisekedi in his "Imperium" which was limited to Limete district had decided some to cross the door of the National Assembly and to take their distance. Its intransigence towards the government of Joseph Kabila is therefore understandable at a time when he now wants to talk with the president, less than two from the end of his term. The strategy of Tshisekedi now becomes unreadable.
The UDPS solo
So we see yet another internal dissent within the UDPS.The 25 signatories proposed holding a "mini conclave in mid-September in Brussels will be followed by a more inclusive Conclave in Kinshasa for us to choose a President of the Interim Party who will represent us to the holding of an Extraordinary Congress. "The replacement of Etienne Tshisekedi is required. The question is how will react and Félix Etienne Tshisekedi this new episode? At best some executives will leave to other opposition parties;at worst, the party implode risk permanently losing its place on the political spectrum Congolese.Because one thing is for sure, the UDPS has already lost much since 2011. The most important elections: its leadership on the other opposition parties.Today have MLC and the UNC that take the caravan of other parties and which are at the forefront of the protest. In January 2015, at the height of protests against the electoral law, the UDPS had not called for demonstrations and had "woken up" three days after the start of the movement indicator that the challenge was gaining momentum.
